Lots of exciting things happening! My new album has been out for over a month now. I got 2nd place in the Indiana Fingerstyle Guitar Festival. I won an amazing electric guitar made by SDC Guitars of Indianapolis, IN. My friend Adam Cantor won 1st prize this year! My video for the title track of my album Cask Strength was premiered on Candyrat Records YouTube channel. I have always dreamed of being affiliated with Candyrat Records. I used to watch their YouTube videos of Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour, Don Ross, Ewan Dobson, and Gareth Pearson while I was in high school. To have my video premiered on their channel is such an honor! Album Recording Finished
Last week I went to Fretmonkey Records in Arkansas to record my 3rd full-length album. This album will contain 13 original songs. It is currently being Mixed and Mastered by Antoine Dufour. The album will be released sometime later this year.
"Evergreen" Christmas album and Concert
My Christmas album is finally done. You can buy the albums from me directly or from Miss Shannon’s Music Studio in Batesville, IN. The album will be available digitally on November 29th. I will be playing a concert at the Gibson Theater in Batesville, IN on December 1st. CDs will be available after the concert!
3rd Place in the Indiana State Fingerstyle Competition
On July 27th I competed in the Indiana State Fingerstyle Competition located in Nashville, IN. There were 23 competitors. The first round everyone plays two songs and then the judges select a top five. This year the judging was so close that they picked a top 6 and I was included! In the second round, contestants play two more songs and the judges pick the top three. I won third place which earned me a brand new custom-made guitar by SDC Guitars in Indianapolis, IN. It is a telecaster/stratocaster hybrid and it has an amazing finish that is actually made of silver leaf! Evan Twitty, from Vincennes, IN, placed second and won a classical guitar from Sweetwater Music. Jonathan Brown, from Nashville, TN, placed 1st and took home a beautiful handmade guitar made by Thomas Roeger in Nashville, IN. All in all, it was a great time and I am planning on competing again next year!
Maybe I'm Amazed Release
Last week I went into the studio and recorded two cover songs. The first one I am releasing in “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney. It is available on all streaming and digital platforms. The next cover will be released around October 12th. I am also planning on releasing a Christmas album around Thanksgiving. Lots of exciting things to close out the year!
Stonebridge Guitars International
I recently be came a Collaborating Artist with Stonebridge Guitars International. I got to create a custom baritone guitar. After a long wait I have received that guitar and it is amazing. NPR Tiny Desk Contest
I just entered the NPR Tiny Desk Contest. This is my second year of entering the competition. Competitors have to upload a video of an original song and post it to YouTube. I love the Tiny Desk Concert series that NPR does on their website and it would be amazing to win and play one of those very concerts. I just want to thank everyone for all the support that you have given me this year. 2016 was about getting prepared for all the exciting goals I have next year. I worked really hard on my online presence by creating a website, professional Facebook page, uploading YouTube videos, and creating an Instagram account. You can follow me on all of those platforms, the links are at the bottom of this page. I'm so excited for 2017. I plan on recording my first solo album of at least 10 original songs. I also plan to play a lot more solo fingerstyle concerts. Thank you so much for watching my Christmas videos on Facebook and YouTube.
